My home on the campus

My room.

All students of IIM Ahmedabad stay in dorms on the campus. There's the old campus and the new campus connected with a tunnel, and my room is on the old campus. The rooms on the new campus are slightly bigger and have newer furniture (a nicer table!) but other than that there is not much difference. The bed - a with a 2 cm thin mattress - is as crap on both campuses... Anyway, the rooms have everything a person needs, a fan and I have a great balcony so I am not really complaining. In the end I spend very little time in the room.

My room.

On each floor live ten girls in total, but on my floor not all rooms are occupied. We share two showers, two toilets (one Western style and one Indian style) and a kitchen which is actually only a tab with drinking water and a tab with non-drinking water. So you actually can't really call it a kitchen. 

Funny thing about the dorms is that guys are not allowed to enter girl dorms without signing a book. In front of all dorms where girls are staying there is a guard sitting whose only job is to ensure the safety of the female residents in the dorm. I say funny, because I the thought never that I needed to be protected to such as extend. One of the things that makes me constantly aware of the fact that I am a woman.
